Genetics has become an integral part of every subspeciality with a
growing evidence that it will irrevocably change the practice of medicine. A working
knowledge in fundamentals of genetics and its clinical application, is an essential pre-
requisite in practice, with wide ranging tests / options available. This would enable us to
provide reliable information to both patients and their families and also help guide them
towards appropriate testing.
Hence, the need of the hour is to create awareness among practitioners. Here is our
attempt in educating those in practice about key concepts of genomics and
importantly, engaging them in the design of how this knowledge will be applied most
effectively in patient care.
