Feb 17th 2010 was an important day in the calendar of Mediscan. In a well attended function in which deputy CM Honorable Shri. M.K. Stalin and Smt. Durga Stalin were chief guests Mediscan and Perkin Elmer (USA) joined hands to form a preliminary quality screening program across India. The screening programs included screening for Downs Syndrome in pregnancy and the New Born Screening program for new borns . These are important tests to suspect and detect certain abnormalities in fetuses and new borns.
These programs were thought to be in line with the government 's principle of "varum mun kaappom" in the health scenario. The deputy Chief Minister took the opportunity to highlight the activities of state under this scheme.
