Feb 17th 2010 was an important day in the calendar
of Mediscan. In a well attended function in which deputy CM Honorable
Shri. M.K. Stalin and Smt. Durga Stalin were chief guests Mediscan
and Perkin Elmer (USA) joined hands to form a preliminary quality
screening program across India. The screening programs included
screening for Downs Syndrome in pregnancy and the New Born Screening
program for new borns . These are important tests to suspect and
detect certain abnormalities in fetuses and new borns.
These programs were thought to be in line with the government 's
principle of "varum mun kaappom" in the health scenario.
The deputy Chief Minister took the opportunity to highlight the
activities of state under this scheme.
Fetal Medicine Foundation, UK accredits
MediScan as the Official training Centre in India.
In the same function Mediscan was declared the official
training center for fetal medicine by Fetal Medicine Foundation UK.
Prof. Kypros Nicolaides of FMF addressed the gathering from London
through teleconference and Ms, Yuvonne Parker of Perkin Elmer handed
over the accreditation Plaque to Prof. S. Suresh, Director of Mediscan.
Mediscan the center for ultrasound, fetalcare and genetics becomes
the first Indian Institution to get accreditation from FMF, an organisation
that strives to achieve higher standards in fetal care all over the
world through research and training activities.. This is an international
acclaim for Mediscan which will add Chennai to the global list of
best fetal care destinations.
