Tamil Nadu is the most affected state by Thyroid deficiency |

According to the recent statistical report released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Tamil Nadu was found to be the most affected state by Thyroid deficiency. 1 in 832 children were found to be affected by this. This ratio is much more when we compare it with the overall statstics of India which is 1 in 1172. |

The report was released by ICMR based on the thyroid test done for the past five years to more than 1 lakh children in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad. In Tamil Nadu it was done to 30,517 children born at the Government Hospital, Chennai in colaboration with MediScan. And the result stated that 37 children of the 30517 children screened were found to have thyroid deficiency. |
